This 2024 Henry Cavill Movie Can Be The Spy Franchise That Almost Happened 9 Years Ago

Fans of this cult Henry Cavill movie have been clamoring for a sequel for years, but these two 2024 movies may be the best that they get.

Henry Cavill is having a pretty eventful 2024, with the year giving him the perfect sequel to his biggest cult movie. Although he is most well-known for portraying Superman in the DCEU, Cavill has had a pretty prolific career outside of superhero media, with him appearing in all kinds of action movies. Cavill is an especially popular pick when it comes to spy films, with some of his most popular non-DCEU movies being part of the genre. Luckily, 2024 will see Henry Cavill returning to the genre, filling in for the actor’s most beloved missing franchise.

Henry Cavill has two spy movies set to release in 2024, with the year gearing up to put the actor in the spotlight again. The first of these films is Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle, which follows an author who becomes entangled in a spy story after accidentally writing a book that mirrors a real-world espionage plot. The second film is Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which follows Henry Cavill as a real-world WWII secret agent named Gus March-Phillipps. Henry Cavill will be key to both of these films, causing many to wonder when this cult film will return.

Argylle & The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare Are The Perfect Man From U.N.C.L.E. Replacement

Henry Cavill appearing in both Argylle and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a big deal, as these two movies are the perfect replacement for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. The Man from U.N.C.L.E is a 2015 film based on the TV series of the same name, with it starring Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer as a CIA agent and a KGB agent respecitvely, with them working together to stop a nuclear threat. Although the film received mixed critical reviews and was a box office disappointment, The Man from U.N.C.L.E has become a cult hit in the years since its release.

Ever since the release of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., fans of the film have been clamoring for a sequel. However, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 2 still hasn’t happened yet, leaving many disappointed. Luckily, viewers looking to see Henry Cavill take on more spy roles will have a fulfilling 2024, as both Argulle and The Ministry of Ungentelmanly Warfare will fill this niche. While it isn’t exactly the same as The Man from U.N.C.L.E., it is at least similar, with these movies potentially starting series that could be just as beloved as the 2015 movie.

The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare Reteams Cavill & Guy Ritchie

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an especially good replacement for The Man from U.N.C.L.E., as it actually reteams Henry Cavill and Guy Ritchie. Guy Ritchie was the director of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., with his directorial fingerprints being one of the reasons that the film is so beloved by its cult following. Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill haven’t had another film like The Man from U.N.C.L.E. since 2015, but 2024 is changing this.

By having Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill work together on another spy movie, many of the elements that make The Man from U.N.C.L.E. so beloved will return in the upcoming film. Although the story and time period are different, with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. taking place during the Cold War and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare taking place during WWII, both films have the same actor, director, and genre, meaning that fans of the former will probably enjoy the latter.

Why The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2 Will Probably Never Happen (Despite The Hope)

Although many fans are holding out hope for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 2, the sequel will probably never happen. It has already been nine years since the first film was released, and with no word on a sequel, the chances of it happening get slimmer by the day. Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill have both moved onto other projects, while the controversies surrounding Armie Hammer make his return unlikely.

On top of that, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a cult film, with cult films rarely ever getting proper sequels. While The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was a hit with fans, the movie was not a box office success, with it only making $110 million on a budget of $75 million. This means that the film was a disappointment, with the studio most likely not seeing a sequel this many years later as a smart investment. While a sequel to the cult Henry Cavill film would please some fans, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 2 most likely won’t be happening.
