Alec Baldwin was immediately expelled from the 2025 Oscars and removed from all nominations right after Elon Musk spoke out demanding the organizers take action.

ALEC Baldwin became the focus of attention at the Oscars 2025 Awards ceremony when he was suddenly kicked out of the event and was named from all nominations a few minutes after Elon Musk asked the Organizing Committee to take action. The incident took place on the evening of March 2, 2025, right at the center of the biggest film event of the year, causing both the audience and the online community to explode. Baldwin, who was nominated for his role in a highly appreciated film, was a controversial figure over the past few years after the accident on the Rust studio in 2021. The incident made him face many criticisms and legal, even though he was finally declared not criminally responsible.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and Xai, suddenly made a statement on social network X just a few hours before the awards ceremony, called Baldwin “a danger to the film industry” and called on the Academy of Sciences and Cinematography to eliminate British from all categories. It is unclear what motivated Musk to make this statement, but his influence seemed to have created immediate effects. Oscars organizers, which often keep neutral attitude against controversy, this time reacted quickly. A short notice came right during the ceremony, confirming that Baldwin was no longer considered a candidate for any award.

The reaction from the public is very diverse. Some supporters of this decision, saying that Baldwin did not deserve to appear at a prestigious event like Oscars after past scandals. However, many other opinions criticized the Organizing Committee for the decline in the pressure from an individual like Musk, asking questions about the fairness and independence of the award. Baldwin, meanwhile, has not made an official comment after the incident, but some sources said he had left the venue in a clear anger.

This incident not only sparked a debate about the power of influential characters in the entertainment industry, but also made people wonder if Oscars is losing their nature under pressure from public opinion and social media. The event will definitely be mentioned in the next many years as a memorable moment, whether not the way Baldwin or the organizers want.

Drake Backs Down: Admits iHeartMedia Did Nothing Wrong in Settlement

Drake had accused iHeartMedia of accepting illegal payola payments from UMG to boost the radio airplay of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss. One of the most unexpected developments in the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle was that it evolved from a question of ‘Who won the battle?’ to ‘Who won the lawsuit?’ However, Drizzy has one less target on his list, as he settled a legal petition against iHeartMedia over the Kendrick diss track “Not Like Us.” Basically, he claimed back in November that Universal Music Group (UMG) made illegal payola payments to iHeart in order to artificially boost radio airplay for the West Coast banger. A court filing in Texas’ Bexar County confirmed this settlement, and an alleged iHeart source reportedly spoke to Rolling Stone on the matter. “In exchange for documents that showed iHeart did nothing wrong, Drake agreed to drop his petition. No payments were made – by either one of us,” the iHeartMedia source explained. The court documents did not specify this, however. “Petitioner and iHeartMedia, Inc. have reached an amicable resolution of the dispute to the satisfaction of both sides,” they read. “We are pleased that the parties were able to reach a settlement satisfactory to both sides and have no further comment on this matter,” the Toronto superstar’s team stated separately to iHeart’s comments. Why Is Drake Suing UMG? Despite this move, Drake is moving forward in his UMG lawsuit, specifically alleging that the label and distributor – which he and Kendrick are both under – engaged in defamatory practices. While K.Dot is not a defendant in this suit, the core of the argument specifically portrays his accusations of pedophilia against the OVO mogul as defamatory. The January filing accuses UMG of artificially boosting the track’s commercial performance and engaging in defamatory campaigns on social media through its promotion. Furthermore, UMG faces a March 16 deadline if they want to file a motion to dismiss. They already denied any and all of Drake’s claims. Through his since-settled iHeartMedia petition, he sought to orally depose iHeart corporate employees, and filed the petition to secure more factual information to determine whether to move forward with more accusations in addition to defamation. Aubrey Graham’s team is also calling UMG out for attempting to delay the case despite their ample time to prepare.
