American former professional tennis player, mother and 23 times Grand Slam singles champion, Serena Williams was honoured at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024.

Williams received an award on July 16, under the category of Legend award in recognition of her sporting career.

The 42-year-old mother is widely regarded as one of the greatest and influential tennis players in the world of all time. Williams has revolutionised the tennis world with her style of playing.

Her award was presented to her by the famous singer, Kelly Rowland who Williams thanked for presenting the award to her as her friend.

Williams thanked her family and gave a shout out to her legendary sister as well, Venus Williams who is also an amazing and inspirational tennis player to many people across the globe.

She proceeded to tell the young audience that they are also legends and gave them words of encouragement, including advice.

“I want all of you to know that no matter where you come from or whatever your dreams are, you can achieve anything that you put your mind to. If I can do it, you can do it. So receiving this legend award is truly a gift and it means the absolute world to me, so thank you all very much,” she said.

Williams continues to be a source of inspiration for many people, including young black girls and women who want to pursue a career in the world of sports.
