Elon Musk couldn’t resist the urge to troll Ellen DeGeneres following news that she has left the United States and moved to the United Kingdom.
The 53-year-old Tesla CEO appeared to allude to a conspiracy theory involving the 66-year-old talk show host and her friendship with the disgraced rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs, 55, with a post on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
He was ribbing DeGeneres after The Wrap reported that she had taken up residence at a home in England’s Cotswolds, which she and wife Portia de Rossi had purchased shortly before the presidential election earlier this month in which former President Donald Trump emerged victorious.
Although the comedian and the Arrest Development star, 51, had purchased their new UK home in October, they took the opportunity ‘to get the hell out’ of the US following Trump’s victory, a source told TMZ.
The new post also comes after an awkward 2018 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show resurfaced, in which the host alluded to Diddy’s extreme parties.
Despite highlighting the connection between DeGeneres and Diddy, who has been charged with racketeering, 𝓈ℯ𝓍 trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution — all of which he denies — Musk previously described Combs as a ‘close friend’ shortly after he bought X, as reported in Kate Conger and Ryan Mac’s Character Limit.

Musk quoted an earlier post by an X user that appeared to suggest that DeGeneres may have had intimate knowledge of the debauched ‘freak off’ parties that Diddy put on, which allegedly played a part in criminal charge against him.
The original post that Musk shared included a screenshot of one of DeGeneres’ posts on what was known as Twitter from November 4, 2016, which was Combs’ birthday.
‘Happy birthday, P Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean Combs, or as I call him, Cuddle McSnugglestuff. You don’t need to know why. @iamdiddy,’ DeGeneres’ account wrote.
The user who shared the screenshot added: ‘It makes sense why she fled the country after the election.’
Musk was content to just let the original post do the talking and skipped adding his won commentary.
Instead, he posted a single skeptical emoji with a raised eyebrow as he quoted the earlier post to his 205.5 million X followers.
The comments on Musk’s post were filled with accounts who had previously shared right-wing content and conspiracy theories.
Many of posts referenced the convicted 𝓈ℯ𝓍 offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein, who died by hanging in his jail cell in 2019.
However, one reply included a screenshot of a New Republic article from August of this year, which included a quotation from Musk in which he revealed that Diddy — whom he described as a friend — had invested in his social media site.
‘I don’t know if you know this, but Puff is an investor in Twitter,” Musk said, using Combs’s nickname. “You know, he’s a good friend of mine, we text a lot
Musk reposted another user who shared a screenshot of DeGeneres wish Diddy a happy birthday. The post was particularly awkward in light of 𝓈ℯ𝓍 trafficking and 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual assault accusations against Diddy, which he has denied
But Musk, who has been inseparable from President-elect Donald Trump in recent days, previously said after buying X that he was ‘good friends’ with Diddy and messaged him regularly; seen with Trump on November 16 in NYC
In September, DeGeneres’ ties to the mogul were also scrutinized after an Ellen DeGeneres Show interview with him from 2018 resurfaced online
She chided him for being late to her show and asked him to be early to a party she was going to throw, before saying, ‘Once you get there the party really stars, you know what I’m saying?’

‘I don’t know if you know this, but Puff is an investor in Twitter,’ Musk reportedly said, as quoted in Kate Conger and Ryan Mac’s book Character Limit. ‘You know, he’s a good friend of mine, we text a lot.’
Musk’s alleged close ties to Diddy came under scrutiny in October after he wondered on X how many people were aware of the rapper’s alleged abusive behavior.
In September, DeGeneres’ ties to the mogul were also scrutinized after an Ellen DeGeneres Show interview with him from 2018 resurfaced online.
In the interview, the comic noted that Diddy was late to set, and she wondered if he would be early to a party she was throwing.
Combs responded, ‘Yes I am — no — you know I have to arrive fashionably late,’ to which she responded, ‘Not too late, though. Please.’
Diddy then asked her what time he should arrive, to which she replied, ‘I’ll tell you later.’
She added: ‘But not too late — ’cause, you know, once you get there the party really starts, you know what I’m saying?’
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi are getting to know their new stomping grounds after reportedly relocating from the U.S. to rural England
In video posted by the watering hole, Ellen and Portia were among those listening to the Irish band doing a relaxed, acoustic performance
‘Yeah … I got you — I promise you I’m not gonna let you down on this big one, for real,’ Diddy answered. ‘Your feet are gonna have blisters, you’re gonna be dancing so hard.’
DeGeneres and her wife de Rossi are recently seen getting to know their new stomping grounds after reportedly relocating from the US to rural England.
The couple have been spotted enjoying the tunes of The Corrs as they made a stop at The Farmer’s Dog, the new pub owned by British broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson, 64, that is located in the United Kingdom.
In video posted by the watering hole, Ellen and Portia were among those listening to the Irish band doing a relaxed, acoustic performance.
Singers James Blunt, 50, and Natalie Imbruglia, 49, were also present.
‘@natalie_imbruglia @thetallirish @jamesblunt what a great night in the pub with @thecorrsofficial ..the way a good pub night should be ..acoustic set, a few drinks, great friends @jeremyclarkson1 thanks for organising it!,’ the post was captioned.
It seems her new life abroad may have inspired Ellen to consider a new hairstyle – she ditched her familiar blonde for a head full of brunette tresses.

The video was shared last week, before The Wrap reported that the couple had moved to rural England.
DeGeneres is taking up roots in the UK with her wife, and they reportedly have no plans to return to the US.
To underscore the apparent permanence of the move, the couple plan to put their Montecito mansion on the market.
A person close to the former Ellen DeGeneres Show host claimed that she and de Rossi were primarily skipping town in response to the 2024 presidential election, which saw Donald Trump win a second non-consecutive term.
The couple are now reportedly living in the Cotswolds, a rural portion of Southwest England that is about 100 miles from London.
The area is popular with celebrities looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of London, which would make sense for DeGeneres and Rossi, as they had already tried to avoid Los Angeles by moving out to Santa Barbara County’s Montecito, about 75 miles from LA.
A source told People that Ellen went across the pond last month to check out new houses before finding her newest residence.
‘Ellen was in England house hunting in the beginning of October. She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after,’ the source said.

The insider noted of their latest outing at the pub: ‘They hung out with [Clarkson’s partner, actress] Lisa Hogan and James Blunt, and The Corrs performed at the pub.’
Ellen and Portia will have plenty of celebrity neighbors. Among the stars with properties in the Cotswolds are David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Jeremy Clarkson and Damien Hirst, among many others.
The area is even home to royalty, as King Charles owns Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
Kate Winslet has also had a mansion in the area at one point, though it’s unclear if she still lives there, and Hugh Grant has been rumored for years to have a small hideaway in the Cotswolds.
In October, The Sun reported that the couple had bought a Cotswolds property, so their purchase predates the 2024 election.
However, after Trump’s win the married couple became ‘very disillusioned,’ and one source claimed the vowed to ‘to get the hell out’ of the US afterward, according to sources who spoke to TMZ.
Though many celebrities have threatened to leave the US in the face of a Trump win, most haven’t followed through.
Stars including Cher, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone and Sophie Turner have all said they were considering leaving the US if Trump won, though it’s not clear if any of them will actually do so.
Sources told TMZ that DeGeneres and de Rossi had already purchased the Cotswolds home before the 2024 election, but they decided to ‘get the hell out’ of the US afterward; seen together in 2022 in Inglewood, Calif.
America Ferrera is said to be considering a move to the UK, and Eva Longoria has spoken about relocating to Europe, though she clarified that, despite her disapproval of Trump, she had moved for international work.
The publication notes that DeGeneres was among Vice President Kamala Harris’ high-profile celebrity donors.
She donated $3,300 to the losing Democratic candidate, which is the maximum amount that can be donated directly to a candidate, though wealthy donors often get around the contribution limits by donating much more to political action committees and super PACs.
Harris was tapped to replace President Biden as the Democratic candidate in July of this year, and DeGeneres shared an endorsement for her on social media in August.
Despite reportedly leaving the US because of the election and Donald Trump’s looming second administration, DeGeneres had plenty of reasons for a new start away from home.
Her career was tarnished — likely permanently — by accusations that she fostered a toxic workplace on the set of her eponymous daytime talk show, which aired its last episode on May 26, 2022.
She delved into her persona non grata status on her stand-up special For Your Approval, which was released on Netflix in late September.
The comedian joked that she had been ‘kicked out of show business’ in the special, which featured material about how she has been spending her time since the end of her TV show.

According to The Wrap, DeGeneres and de Rossi have either pocket-listed their Bali-inspired Montecito mansion, or it will soon be listed.
According to TMZ, they are still mulling a potential asking price, but once they settle on one the property will go on the market.
DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the massive home for an eye-popping $27 million in 2019.
The mansion features five bedrooms and 10 bathrooms over 8,188 square feet, and it includes exotic features like bamboo ceilings, flamed black limestone and gorgeous distressed oak floors.
The couple also sold their Carpinteria mansion for $96million in August.
