‘The Boys’ Star Valorie Curry Calls Out Fans for Inappropriate Convention Demands.

With a Certified Fresh rating and high viewership, The Boys’ fourth season debuted on June 13, 2024, and ran until July 18, 2024. However, because of its political satire, it has also been subject to review bombing by irate and hateful fans. These viewers were publically ridiculed and chastised by the production, who showed little concern. Eric Kripke even ordered them to quit watching the show.

The arrival of new characters, some of whom will return for Season 5, contributed to the season’s exceptional popularity. Among them is Firecracker, played by actress Valorie Curry, who was one of the most interesting newcomers to the series.

We’ve previously reported on both the role and the actress’ views, but the actress has resurfaced in the headlines following a somewhat unpleasant event in Belfast, when she turned to the Internet to chastise the “fans” for their behavior.

Valorie Curry is currently in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she is attending the Northern Ireland Comic Con and is part of the series’ panel. The actress appeared in full costume in front of the fans, and from what we could understand, the fans could approach her, talk to her, and probably get a photograph or an autograph. But, two “fans” (because we cannot call such people fans) crossed the line, and while the actress has not been specific about what happened, she has made it abundantly clear that such behavior is not acceptable in a video posted online:

“Hey guys. Just got back from the first day of Comic-Con in Northern Ireland, Belfast. And by and large, everyone was fantastic, I’ve only just started doing these conventions on my own and everyone for the most part has been so lovely, kind and respectful. (…) We do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behaviour. I know people saw a character that I played do some pretty extreme things – on The Boys. I don’t care if you’re in costume. I don’t care if you are in character. It’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth. It’s not okay. Frankly, to the person who did that repeatedly today, I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry. I didn’t think this needed to be explained, but I was deeply uncomfortable. It was quite clear I was uncomfortable. I really want to be able to do [conventions]. I really enjoy getting to meet the fans and talk about the characters that I played – honestly, I really love it. I want to be able to do this. I’m not going to be able to do [conventions] if people are acting this way because it makes me so uncomfortable and honestly you should know better. Everybody else knows better, and again, I don’t know what reaction you were looking for [because] nobody was laughing.”

Since such behavior is improper and immoral, especially toward a woman, we can only stand by the actress and support her. It is rather obvious what the fans were demanding from these comments. We just hope that this was an anomaly and that she doesn’t encounter any more incidences of this nature.
