The body positive advocate opened up to PEOPLE exclusively about her outfit inspired by Blake Lively, who reposted and commented on her look
Katie Sturino continues to take steps forward in the fashion industry.
When speaking about her latest partnership with Stitch Fix, the body positive advocate opened up to PEOPLE exclusively about her recent “Super Size the Look” inspired by Blake Lively — not only prompting the actress to comment on her Instagram but repost it on her Instagram Stories too.
Sturino, who’s used her social media platform to address size inclusivity and body positivity since 2015, created the “Super Size the Look” series nearly one decade ago in an effort to recreate celebrity outfits regardless of measurements.
“I started it because I heard people all the time say that they wish they could dress like a certain celebrity, but they didn’t have the figure to pull it off,” Sturino tells PEOPLE. The Instagram concept features the influencer wearing a similar outfit side-by-side with the celebrity look.
“I just wanted to show my body next to the celebrity body in the same outfit and be like, ‘No, look. We’re both cute. You can do it!'” she explains. “I think that it’s such an image for people to grab onto because they’re like, ‘Oh, wait. If she’s doing it, I could do it.'”
For Sturino’s latest take on the trend, she pulled inspiration from Lively’s denim-on-denim ensemble she wore during a night out with friends in New York’s Greenwich Village in June. The It Ends With Us star wore a jean trench coat over a studded jean mini dress paired with a mini bag and a necklace.
“#SuperSizeTheLook @blakelively edition! Denim on Denim Goddess! Blake showing us the power of a denim trench 💙” Sturino captioned her Instagram post, listing the brands and sizes she shopped to achieve a similar look.
To the fashion influencer’s surprise, Lively reposted her photo online, telling PEOPLE her gesture was especially meaningful.
“She has said some really great things essentially about women and how hard it is with body image, and so I’m very flattered that she re-posted me,” Sturino tells PEOPLE of the Instagram Stories share.
In addition to the repost, Lively also left a comment on Sturino’s “Super Size the Look” that she inspired. “Stunning always 🔥 love this. Thank you for the honor. And I love your purse. Even though they don’t hold our phones I don’t care 🤩. It’s too cute,” the former Gossip Girl actress wrote.

This wasn’t the first time Sturino interacted with Lively, having shared a sweet encounter with the actress at the New York City premiere of her film It Ends With Us in August. At the time, she posted a video to Instagram that recounted the night, including a heartwarming embrace between the two.
“Went for the @itendswithusmovie premiere, stayed to finally meet Blake in person and spoiler alert: she’s the angel we all knew she would be,” the social media personality captioned the post.
Now, Sturino is teaming back up with Stitch Fix for a new partnership she’s especially “excited about” as fall season is underway. Her latest campaign addresses “fit-strations,” or the stress of finding well-fitting clothes during seasonal transitions.
“Fall you need to build outfits and I think that that can be really overwhelming, especially with things like jeans where you don’t understand your size. You have to order multiple sizes to get the right fit,” she explains. “I think Stitch Fix is super helpful in that area.”
Sturino said that the personal styling service will ensure that “everything’s going to fit,” in addition to assisting in building an outfit that “you love.” She explains, “Stitch Fix actually has technology that understands what size from what brand is going to fit.”
