Why was Meghan Markle ridiculed for launching a book about fatherhood?

Deadline reported on May 4 that Meghan Markle is set to release her children’s book, The Bench, on June 8. The book explores father-son relationships, inspired by the bond between her husband, Prince Harry, and their son, Archie.

Meghan shared, “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, a month after Archie was born. That poem became this.” She hopes the book will resonate with all families, regardless of their circumstances.

The Bench is scheduled for release in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India, and South Africa. The publisher describes the book as evoking “feelings of warmth, connection, and compassion,” illustrated with watercolors by artist Christian Robinson, promising to deliver touching moments to its readers.

Many have reacted to Meghan Markle’s upcoming children’s book, The Bench, but none more fiercely than Piers Morgan. The controversial media personality, who was fired from ITV for his comments about Meghan and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, believes Meghan is deliberately “exploiting” her royal title to promote the book, despite her and Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties.

Morgan pointed out that the book cover features her name as “Meghan, Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍,” which he claims underscores her ambiguous use of the title. In an interview with the Daily Mail, he stated, “Meghan continues to use her royal title ambiguously, because she knows that’s the only reason any brand would pay her huge sums of money.”

Furthermore, he accused Meghan and Harry of hypocrisy for writing about fatherhood while reportedly having a “terrible relationship” with their own father. Morgan’s comments reflect ongoing tensions surrounding the couple’s public persona and their royal connections.

In addition to Piers Morgan, the statements of two hosts of Australia Today also attracted no less attention, according to Mirror . While introducing The Bench , host Allison Langdon objected to comparing Meghan  Markle’s new book to the works of famous children’s authors such as Roald Dahl or JK Rowling , because it was too lame. She also expressed sarcasm when she learned that Harry ‘s wife would be recording the audiobook version of The Bench . Meanwhile, Allison’s co-host, male MC Karl Stefanovic, laughed at the story of Meghan Markle writing poetry with her husband while the two moved to the US.
