King Charles’ Praise for Kate Middleton: Acknowledges Her Impact as Princess of Wales
King Charles has openly evaluated Kate Middleton’s time as the Princess of Wales, offering a candid appraisal that reflects his admiration for her role within the royal family. Close to his daughter-in-law, the future queen, Charles recognizes her integral contributions and popularity over the years.
Recently, it was announced that the Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery and will be stepping back from public engagements for several months to recover. Her absence will be felt by the royal family, and a new book, Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story by Robert Hardman, sheds light on just how much the King values her.
According to a friend quoted in the book, Charles is a “huge fan” of Catherine, praising her not only for her royal duties but also for her role in raising his grandchildren.
The book also draws parallels between Kate and Queen Camilla, noting that both women are avid readers and maintain a keen awareness of media coverage. Unlike their husbands, both have strong, non-negotiable relationships with their families that thrive alongside their royal responsibilities.
The Princess of Wales has this week returned to work following her treatment after her shock cancer announcement. Kate, 42, revealed last week that her treatment had ended and she would slowly return to royal duties. In an intimate video of Kate, husband Prince William and their three children, the future queen – who was diagnosed with cancer in February – told how she was looking forward to returning to duties. Though she said: “My path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
In the official Court Circular of engagements undertaken by working royals, an entry today reads: “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle.” Kensington Palace confirmed it is the first noted mention of Kate working since she was first hospitalised in January for abdominal surgery. The princess spent two weeks in hospital before being discharged to recover at home. Weeks later, doctors delivered a secondary diagnosis of cancer before she began a course of preventative chemotherapy. Kate was applauded last week for her statement, in which she spoke of her cancer journey being “complex, scary and unpredictable”.
