“The Cristiano Ronaldo of WNBA” – WNBA fans chime in on Angel Reese’s courtside coaching assist to Sky coach Teresa Witherspoon.

Angel Reese vowed to be a loud presence on the Chicago Sky bench following a season-ending hand injury. The “Chi Barbie” can’t help her teammates on the court, so she has been doing everything she can on the sidelines. She has been their most vocal cheerleader as the team hopes to punch a postseason ticket.

Reese, though, hasn’t been content with encouraging her teammates. She has practically become Teresa Weatherspoon’s assistant coach, sometimes giving instructions along the sidelines.

Basketball fans promptly reacted to a clip of Angel Reese animatedly talking to Weatherspoon, with one tweeting:

“The Cristiano Ronaldo of WNBA”

One fan thinks “T-Spoon’s” days are numbered:

“Ain’t no way a head coach is letting a rookie do this“Ma’am you are getting fired and soon and I hate that for you”

Another fan had a new nickname for Reese:

“Black Mulkey”

@Cinfante28 had a different take:

“She need to sit her a** down and watch the game, but she always gotta be in the limelight, all about me me me”

Despite the combined efforts of Angel Reese and Teresa Weatherspoon on the sidelines, the Chicago Sky lost 93-88 to the Phoenix Mercury.

Chicago has dropped its last three games and could miss the playoffs. The Sky must win their remaining two games and hope that the Washington Mystics falter to continue playing past the regular season.

If the Mystics, Sky and Atlanta Dream end up with the same record, Washington will get the final playoff spot. Washington owns the season series against Chicago 3-1 and is tied with Atlanta in head-to-head (2-2).

The tiebreaker will be the conference record, which favors the Mystics by a big margin.

Angel Reese has been busy while dealing with her wrist injury

Angel Reese can’t play in the next few months but has been quite busy.

She dropped the second episode of her podcast, “The Unapologetically Angel” show. The All-Star forward had Polo G as her guest, and the two talked about “the dark side of fame” among other topics.

The show was barely over when Angel Reese got on X, formerly Twitter, to hype up the third episode:

“yall bout to crash out about this next episode”

The former LSU superstar hasn’t revealed the name of her next guest but is confident that it will be well received. Reese wants her show to be “authentic” and “unfiltered,” which was obvious in the first two episodes.

Basketball fans who have closely followed Reese’s podcast can’t wait for the next chapter to drop. They are interested to see if the next guest will live up to the hype.
