The hit superhero satire series The Boys will finish with the fifth and final season. Giancarlo Esposito, one of the show’s stars, hinted that the series would end on a high note and satisfy viewers.
Esposito, who plays Stan Edgar on the show, discussed The Boys’ future on the red carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening. He told Deadline that the last season of The Boys will be “explosive,” and given how wild the program has been in past seasons, viewers should not anticipate anything less. The actor went on to explain why he enjoys being a member of The Boys, mentioning how it relates to his conviction that everyone can be a superhero if they live their lives in a specific manner.

“I think it’s going to be a whirlwind season,” he said. “Every show that comes to an end has an explosive ending in its final season, and The Boys is just such a very outrageous show, but also reflective of the world we live in now. When superheroes have the power to not only save us, but to harm us, that’s an interesting show.”
“I think it’s going to be a whirlwind season.”
Esposito added about the series, “I love it, because I believe that we are all superheroes. I believe that inside of us all, if you’re able to think differently, will unlock a hidden power that we all have. So, I’m convinced that the way to do that is to impact people in a way that gives them love, but also uplifts them, and also affirms their self-determination to be the best human beings they can be.”
Eric Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, has teased that Season 5 will be the most startling season yet. He confirmed that there is no real reason to keep many characters around knowing that Season 5 will terminate the series, implying that some significant characters will be 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed off. Kripke also discussed the pressure he feels to end the show on a high note and satisfy the audience.
Expect a high body count in the final season of The Boys.
“There will probably be lots of death,” he told Total Film. “So many series finales are terrible, and it’s quite difficult to land the plane. I am grateful to Amazon for allowing me to end it on our own terms, but I do feel a lot of pressure to do so successfully. Because I believe that if we can land, people will say, ‘That’s a terrific show!’ If we s— the bed, people will say, ‘Oh, that was a nice show, but they s— the bed.'”
