Before he brought The Boys to life on Prime Video, Eric Kripke made his name as the showrunner for the tremendously popular series Supernatural. Several actors from Supernatural have appeared in The Boys such as Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but they’ve never appeared alongside each other in the new series. Morgan, for his part, believes that Season 5 would be the perfect time to reunite with his former co-star.
In an interview with Variety, the cast of The Boys answered questions about the show’s Season 4 finale and the future of their characters. In all this, Morgan expressed his clear desire to once again star alongside Jensen Ackles in a hit television show, saying, “I don’t know how you do Season 5 without an appearance, at least. That’s my feeling. I’ve never had any official talks about it, but I think it’d be really hard to carry on without some sort of resolution — and hopefully that’ll be a whole season! I want to have scenes with everyone that’s part of that show, but I obviously have a long-standing relationship with Jensen, especially. He’s like my brother.” Morgan also mentions Jim Beaver, who he calls “one of the coolest people in the world.” On The Boys, Beaver plays former Secretary of Defense Robert Singer, who is named after his own character in Supernatural, Bobby Singer, himself named after longtime TV producer Robert Singer –just a bit complicated.
Morgan also went on to praise both Ackles’ performance as Soldier Boy as well as the character itself, saying, “Jensen’s Soldier Boy was one of the single greatest characters I’ve seen in television in a long, long time. His performance blew me away. I did want to work with him — and we also have a really good time together, the two of us, especially. And, obviously, that was a carrot in front of my face that I was chasing after, sure.” Ackles played older brother Dean Winchester on Supernatural for 15 years before playing The Boys‘ version of Captain America –with a seriously dark twist.

Much has been said about the possibility of an ultimate Supernatural reunion on The Boys, which would include Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester. A reunion between Padalecki, Ackles, Morgan, and Beaver would “destroy much of the world,” joked Kripke. The showrunner has revealed that he contacted Padalecki upon the cancellation of his series on The CW, Walker, and asked him to join the cast. “Just let me know if I have to get naked or not because I gotta start working out now,” was Padalecki’s response.
It Will Be a Wait for Season 5 of The Boys
The fifth and final season of The Boys will come out in “2 years” according to actor Karl Urban. In the meantime, fans of the franchise can stream the first four seasons on Prime Video, as well as the second season of Gen V which will premiere in 2025.
