¿Por qué Vinicius cargó con la culpa de la salida de Brasil de la Copa América a Uruguay?

The penalty shootout loss to Uruguay was a hard blow for all Brazilians, especially for Vinicius, who suffered from the stands because he could not take to the field to change the situation due to a suspension from accumulating yellow cards. After a few days of sadness and pain, however, the Real Madrid player posted a statement on his social media expressing his feelings.

Vinicius has, as was expected, taken plenty of focus in this Copa América. From the start of the tournament, the winger faced criticism for his performance against Costa Rica, but these criticisms turned into praise after his excellent game against Paraguay on the second day, where he scored a brace. However, the last match was pivotal for him and for Brazil after drawing against Colombia, as the winger received a yellow card that forced him to miss the quarterfinals against Uruguay.

Vinicius’ statement after Brazil loss

“The Copa América is over, and it’s time to reflect, to learn how to deal with defeat,” Vini began. “The feeling of frustration arises again. Again, it came down to penalties. I failed by picking up two yellow cards. I watched the elimination from the outside again, but this time it’s my fault. I apologize for that.

“I know how to take criticism, and the harshest, believe me, comes from within. My journey with the national team, fortunately, has just begun. Alongside my teammates, I will have the opportunity to restore our national team to the place it deserves. We will return to the top.”

At 23, Vinicius is already considered the natural leader of the Brazilian national team and its future. Therefore, his performances are scrutinized not only by the country but by the entire football community. His five goals in 34 appearances for the Seleção have sparked a flood of criticism that is unlikely to subside following the elimination from Copa América.

With Brazil’s elimination, the player will join Madrid’s tour of the United States, which, at least, will please some commercial sponsors. Los Blancos are one of the biggest attractions of the preseason and will have the opportunity to feature its star and Endrick, who will don the white jersey for the first time.
