It had been about 17 years since Travis Barker had last been a parent to a newborn infant before his son Rocky arrived this past November.

And now, some eight months after slipping back into daddy mode for his 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 he shares with wife Kourtney Kardashian, the Blink-182 drummer is relishing in his role as daddy all over again.

‘The most wonderful thing you could do at any time in your life is have a 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 or bring a human being into this world,’ Barker, 48, told People, before sharing how he first got a ‘crash course’ in parenting.

It happened when his stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya, first came into his life when he sparked a romance with her mother, Shanna Moakler, when she was still an infant.

Ultimately, the rocker ended up being a father figure for Atiana for nearly her entire 25 years of life that is still ongoing to this day

While Barker and Moakler ended up calling it quits in 2006 after two years of marriage, they continued an on-and-off relationship before finalizing their divorce in 2008.

The musician would also share how he ‘learned so much’ from the births of his two biological children: 20-year-old son Travis and 18-year-old daughter Alabama, in part, ‘because they were born really close to each other.’

Despite the 17 years that had past since he last had a screaming 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 in the house, Barker maintains ‘it’s just as good as I remembered it.’

‘I love being a dad,’ the All The Small Things star confessed, before adding, ‘That’s my favorite accomplishment, it’s my favorite thing I get to do every day.’

Barker, who has now been married to Kardashian for more than two years, also recalled the time that he first found out he was having his son Landon, and how it inspired him to

‘The day I found out, I left my house and I ran to the freeway, he said of his impromptu run. ‘It was four miles, and then I ran four miles back, too.’

He deducted that he was so overjoyed at the prospect of being a dad that he ‘had this urge to just be the best version of myself, be healthy and take care of myself more — and I think that’s never gone away.’

In fact, that enthusiasm for being a dad again can be seen in some of the photos that he and his wife share on their respective Instagram pages.

Kardashian, who had to have emergency fetal surgery when Rocky was making his grand arrival to the world, brought three of her own children to their blended family.

It turns out their newborn boy had some fluid in his lungs that needed to be removed that resulted in some tense moments that all worked out in the end.

Previously, The Kardashians star had been in a long on-again, off-again relationship with Scott Disick that resulted in them having sons Mason, 13, Reign, eight, and daughter Penelope, 11.

The couple started dating in late 2020, then confirmed their romance the following January
