four-year old clip of Chelsea Handler saying that 50 Cent can’t vote for former President Donald Trump because he is Black, has sparked outrage online among conservatives after being resurfaced.
The comedian made the comments about the rapper, who she briefly dated in 2011, during an interview with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show back in 2020.
The Context
50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, was on Capitol Hill this week with civil rights attorney Ben Crump to advocate for Black entrepreneurs and push for more representation in the alcohol industry. 50 Cent owns the liquor company Sire Spirits.
He was photographed with Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert, and spoke with reporters, telling them that he saw African American men “identifying with Trump.”

Freelance journalist Matt Keener, who has written for websites such as The Daily Caller and The Federalist, posted a clip of 50 Cent’s latest remarks to reporters about Trump on X, formerly Twitter, alongside the following comment: “Chelsea Handler is going to be pissed when she sees this.”
The clip of Handler’s 2020 Tonight Show interview was reposted on X by prominent right-wing account Libs of TikTok after Keener’s post and shared by others.
In the interview, Handler speaks to Jimmy Fallon, asking the late-night TV host, “You heard about my ex-boyfriend right, 50 Cent and his support of Donald Trump?”
Fallon asked her about the exchange between the two, saying that he had seen her “tweets” about 50 Cent, who Handler had previously referred to as her “favorite ex-boyfriend.”
Handler said that 50 Cent, “doesn’t want to pay 62% of taxes, which by the way, isn’t a plan of Joe Biden’s, that’s a lie.” “He doesn’t want to pay 62% of taxes because he doesn’t want to go from being 50 Cent to 20 Cent.”
She then said that “I had to remind him that he was a Black person, so he can’t vote for Donald Trump.”
She went on to say that “he shouldn’t be influencing an entire swathe of people who may listen to him, because he’s worried about his own personal pocketbook.”
Handler then told Fallon that she hasn’t heard back from 50 Cent. She implied that she was willing to give her relationship with the rapper another go if he “publicly denounces” Trump.
She told Fallon that, “I am willing to you know, seal the deal in more ways than one if he changes his mind.”
50 Cent responded to the interview that Handler gave in 2020 in a post on X, where he declared, “F*** Donald Trump, I never liked him.”

Handler’s comments sparked outrange online, as users take to the platform X, to express their views.
One user commented on the video of Handler, writing “white liberal women are some of the most racist people in existence.” While another wrote, “condescending, white, racist Karen telling Black men who they’re allowed to vote for… great.”
Another user slammed her comments calling them “so gross and racist.”
