Taylor Swift screamed “But daddy, I love him!” to her father, Scott, years before writing the hit song from “The Tortured Poets Department.”

In a rediscovered 2008 interview with PopSugar, the “Lover” singer honestly revealed having an altercation with her father because he didn’t approve of who she was dating.

“This song, I wrote it right after my one epic teenage tantrum that I ever threw in my whole life,” she stated, explaining the idea for “Love Story” from her second album, “Fearless.”

In a resurfaced interview from 2008, the “Lover” songstress recalled the time when her parents didn’t approve of who she was dating.

When asked about the idea for “Love Story,” she replied, “This song, I wrote it right after my one epic teenage tantrum that I ever threw in my whole life.”

“And I remember screaming something like ‘But daddy, I love him!’ and running out and storming into my room and slamming the door and then I sat down on the floor and wrote this song,” she continued.

Nearly 16 years later, the Grammy-winning singer, now 34, released “TTPD” featuring the fan-favorite anthem.

In the song, she says, “Now I’m racing with my dress unbuttoned / Screaming ‘But Daddy I love him!’ / I’m having his 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 / No, I’m not, but you should see your reactions.”

“And I remember screaming something like ‘But daddy, I love him!'” she continued.

Taylor recalls a forbidden love with a man with whom she has “chemistry” despite the fact that he is shunned by her parents and the “people in town.”

After the tune was released, many fans believed the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker was referring to her short-lived relationship with Matty Healy, as she also sung about being a “wild child” to her “wild boy.”

The 1975 frontman, who dated the pop diva for a month last year, has been involved in several controversial incidents, including kissing a security officer and appearing on an abusive podcast episode.

Taylor recalled storming into her room, shutting the door and sitting down to write the song.

“But Daddy I Love Him” is now a huge track on her 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

However, Swifties are convinced Taylor also references her whirlwind romance with Travis Kelce when she later sings about her loved ones approving of her beau toward the end of the song.

“Now I’m dancing in my dress in the sun and / Even my daddy just loves him / I’m his lady, and oh my God / You should see your faces,” she sings.

She seemingly confirmed the fan speculation during her Eras Tour stop in Paris last month as she transitioned from “But Daddy I Love Him” into “So High School,” which is also presumed to be about the NFL star.

It’s rumored to be about the Grammy winner’s controversial relationship with Matty Healy.

Some of the lyrics of the song are also thought to be influenced by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

In the song, the music icon talks about an exciting teenage romance, referencing to football and attending Kansas City Chiefs games.

She also appeared to gush over Kelce, 34, on “The Alchemy.”

After a few months of clandestine dating, the couple went public with their romance in September 2023.
