ion Anthony Joshua hugged an 87-year-old super fan as he appeared to ignore local rules over social distancing and face masks during a night out in Marbella.

The boxing world champion was out enjoying some fine dining at Marbella hotspot La Sala Puerto Banus with a large group of friends before being introduced to Doreen Miller.

The champion hugged the elderly supporter when she told him she was his biggest fan whilst he was out partying with pals at the showbiz haunt in Marbella where he is holidaying.

Doreen looked over the moon as Joshua came over to sit down next to her and asked her who her favourite boxers were.

The starstruck great grandmother said she liked Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather before saying to Joshua: ‘but you’re the best.’

The Brit laughed and replied: ‘I’ll take it!’ before posing for several pictures with her.

Joshua however appeared to ignore rules over social distancing and face masks – which were made compulsory in Marbella in public spaces from Wednesday.

Face masks were made compulsory in public spaces from midnight on July 15 in the Costa del Sol, regardless of social distancing.

Social distancing measures in Spain remain in place.

Anyone who fails to comply with the rules can be hit with €100 (£90) fines.

The unified heavyweight champion flew out to holiday in Marbella over a week ago after the government removed the UK quarantine restrictions for Spain and has been enjoying some down time with his boxing career temporarily on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He was due to defend his world titles against Kubrat Pulev this summer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but is now awaiting a new date.

His promoter Eddie Hearn admitted this week that the fight could now be staged at a ‘quirky’ venue such as a boat or a castle later this year.

‘Other ideas we have are 1,000 people somewhere strange and quirky,’ he told the Evening Standard. ‘I’ve got a few things up my sleeve.

‘We’re talking about castles, plush hotels, maybe even on a boat.’

The 30-year-old is expected to face Tyson Fury in a money-spinning blockbuster all-British showdown next year if he can defeat Bulgarian Pulev.

Last month, Joshua joined in on a Black Lives Matter protest march in his hometown of Watford where social distancing measures also appeared to be ignored.
