Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend Connor McCaffery weighs in on Angel Reese debate after Sheryl Swoopes’ remarks

Clark’s boyfriend didn’t take kindly to claims she won’t have it easy

The Iowa Hawkeyes‘ Caitlin Clark‘s boyfriend, Connor McCaffrey, has slammed comments by Sheryl Swoopes, after the latter said that she won’t immediately dominate the Women’s NBA league.

Clark is in sensational form in the NCAA and is set to break the record for the most points ever in just a matter of games, but she was warned by Swoopes that the WNBA is a different prospect all together as people are fighting for their jobs there.

But it wasn’t all bad, she did also say that Clark and Angel Reese (LSU Tigers) will be good professional players, it will just take time before they begin to translate their college game to the pro scene.

Regardless of that, McCaffrey didn’t appreciate the comments and replied with four cap emojis to an Instagram post of Swoopes‘ quotes. The cap emoji usually means a person is incorrect or doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

What exactly did Swoopes say?

Swoopes knows what she is talking about since she is a four-time WNBA champion so obviously she is full of experience and knows what it takes to reach the top.

She graduated to the top level of the women’s game after becoming the first player to ever be signed. She’s also a three-time Olympic gold medalist and a three-time MVP.

“I think Angel will eventually be a good pro,” Swoopes said to the Gil’s Arena Podcast. “I don’t think Angel will come into the league immediately and dominate the way people think she will. And I say that for people who have never watched a WNBA game.

“It’s good. There’s talent-like these women can play. And because there are very few roster spots. It’s a real job. So people look at new players, whether that’s out of college, players who have been overseas, and they look at that and say, ‘Oh, you’re trying to come take my job.’ Nah, it’s not going to be that easy.

“So, will Caitlin Clark be a good pro? Absolutely. Will Caitlin Clark come into the WNBA and do what she’s doing right now immediately? Absolutely not.”
