Serena Williams finished as a runner-up to Angelique Kerber during the women’s final at Wimbledon on Saturday.
Following the game, the 36-year-old’s husband Alexis, who she wed in 2017, rushed to Instagram to show his support for her.
In the post, the American entrepreneur praised the former world tennis champion for her performance in this year’s competition, as well as congratulating her opponent.
The motivational message also saw Alexis remember the moment Serena gave birth to their first child together, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, in September last year.
Revealing that she had had to have an operation just days after the youngster had been born, the Reddit co-founder admitted he thought the star could’ve died.
“Days after our 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 girl was born, I kissed my wife goodbye before surgery and neither of us knew if she would be coming back,” he told his 380,000 followers.
“We just wanted her to survive—10 months later, she’s in the #Wimbledon final.
“Congratulations, @angie.kerber.”
Backing the American tennis player, he went on: “@serenawilliams will be holding a trophy again soon—she’s got the greatest one waiting at home for her.
“Our family knows she’ll win many more trophies, too.”
