Kanye West specifically picked internet personality DJ Akademiks for his wildly offensive interview because he knew speaking to a man who was recently accused of acting inappropriately towards a teenage gamer would ‘ruffle feathers.’ The controversial rapper, 47, was dressed in a black KKK outfit and brandishing a giant swastika as he made a slew of shocking claims about his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, refused to apologize for vile comments he shared about Jay-Z’s children, and branded himself ‘evil’ during a one-hour long interview peppered with homophobic slurs.

His latest ‘publicity stunt’ was said to be born out of his jealousy for Kendrick Lamar and marked another attempt to steal the limelight from the Hip Hop star, 37, who has been at the center of a long-running feud with Drake, 38. ‘He has been having meltdowns about Kendrick’s popularity and spent weeks orchestrating the latest publicity stunt,’ an insider told DailyMail.com. ‘He chose DJ Akademiks specifically because he knew it would ruffle feathers. ‘Akademiks was accused of inappropriate behavior towards a teen gamer just a few weeks ago.’

The live streamer, real name Livingston Allen, 33, asked about the 𝓈ℯ𝓍 life of a 15-year-old back in January and even offered to perform a 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual act on him.

The rapper, 47, picked DJ Akademiks, 33, because he knew speaking to a man who was accused of inappropriate behavior towards a teen gamer would ‘ruffle feathers,’ sources claim. Akademiks, who has around 5 million followers across his social media platforms, apologized within hours for making the inappropriate comments, admitting he needs to ‘do better.’ ‘I am wrong,’ he said. ‘I will be better… Definitely a regrettable moment, and we’re going to use it as a teachable moment. Because I don’t think I’ve came this far, built this platform, to be that irresponsible, right?’

He didn’t offer any excuses for his behavior, adding: ‘I’ll just take the responsibility. I should do better and will do better.’ It came months after he was accused of 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual assault and defamation by Fauziya Abashe. She claimed he raped her at his New Jersey home in 2022 after she was drugged and raped by two of his friends.

He denied the allegations and addressed Abashe’s lawsuit in a Rumble live stream in May 2024, calling it a ‘shakedown’ and ‘a money tree situation.’ ‘I’m not even hiding and ducking from a situation, or ducking from the narrative that happened,’ he said. ‘I pretty much told everything. And also, I told the truth. The police came, they looked, we gave them everything… ‘The things that fall in my favor happen to be: The truth, video footage, text messages, everything that the prosecutor who could’ve potentially looked into this, all reviewed and said, “We don’t have enough to even go forward.” That’s just facts.’ As a self-proclaimed Drake fan, Akademiks has also been embroiled in the lengthy feud between the Canadian artist and Lamar. He claims to have ties to Drake and frequently shares alleged updates from the ongoing saga.

Lamar dropped an untitled song on Instagram back in September that appeared to target Akademiks. ‘Influencers talk down ’cause I’m not with the basic sh*t,’ he rapped. ‘But they don’t hate me, they hate the man that I represent / The type of man that never d*ck ride ’cause I want a favor.’ Akademiks left a comment on the post which read: ‘No no noooo.’ On Drake diss track 6:16 in LA he made mention to Akademiks by name, claiming he was ‘compromised’ because of his friendship with the Canadian Hip Hop artist. ‘Yeah, somebody’s lyin’, I can see the vibes on Ak’/ Even he lookin’ compromised,’ Lamar rapped. ‘West knows Kendrick fans hate Akademiks,’ the source said. ‘Kendrick is undeniably the king of Hip Hop and Kanye knows that younger people have moved on from him. ‘Most of his fans now are incels or far right so it’s more about provoking reactions from the “woke left.” It’s a case of “appease my audience by offending their rivals.”’

They continued: ‘Every stunt he has pulled since January has been his way of trying to steal Kendrick’s limelight. He wants a rap beef with Kendrick but is aware that Kendrick clearly doesn’t think he is worth the time.’ The Compton native has long been the target of West’s vitriol. Despite previously praising it, he took aim at Lamar’s half time show in February, asking: ‘Why do they want someone with no hits like Kendrick to do the Super Bowl?’

Asked directly about his issues with the Pulitzer Prize winner, West replied: ‘I don’t really have a problem with Kendrick I would never call Kendrick a f****t… I don’t like how they used Kendrick. And also, I don’t like him saying he did number one because I’m number one.’ Asked if he is jealous of 22-time Grammy winner Lamar, he said: ‘Yes, I was jealous that Kendrick was on Cardi [B’s] album, and I feel like that’s two different genres.
