Offset Slams Elon Musk Over Derek Chauvin Pardon Talk—’This Ain’t Right!

Offset has slammed Elon Musk for supporting the notion of pardoning Derek Chauvin, the disgraced police officer who 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed George Floyd.

The Tesla CEO reposted a video on X (which he owns) on Tuesday (March 4) of conservative commentator Ben Shapiro campaigning to get Chauvin released from prison.

Musk — who wields influence within U.S. politics as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — seemingly co-signed the suggestion, writing above it: “Something to think about.”

The former Migos rapper was not happy with Musk co-signing the idea of freeing the convicted 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er and called him out on Instagram.

“Racist bitch playin in black folks faces,” he wrote in a comment.

Offset also declared that he would boycott Musk’s vehicles, adding: “Driving Ferrari not Tesla.”

Shapiro has launched a petition urging President Donald Trump to pardon Chauvin, who was convicted of murdering Floyd during a highly-publicized arrest in 2020 — sparking a wave of Black Lives Matter protests around the world. In a letter addressed to Trump, he wrote: “We write to urge you to immediately issue a pardon for Officer Derek Chauvin, who was unjustly convicted and is currently serving a 22-and-a-half year sentence for the murder of George Floyd and associated federal charges.”

Shapiro claims that there was “massive overt pressure on the jury to return a guilty verdict regardless of the evidence or any semblance of impartial deliberation.” He also alleges that lawmakers “pre-judged the outcome of the trial and took to national media to create pressure on the jury to go along with their preferred narrative.”

Chauvin was convicted in two separate trials of violating Floyd’s civil rights and committing second-degree murder. He is simultaneously serving 21-year and 22-and-a-half-year sentences for each charge, respectively. The former Minneapolis cop has repeatedly attempted to appeal his conviction and was stabbed in prison in late 2023, but the wounds were not life-threatening. Floyd’s family have yet to comment on the petition or Musk’s X post. Offset is not the only rapper to call out the tech billionaire over his political views.

Last year, Tyler, The Creator took a shot at Musk during a performance at Austin City Limits, where he changed the lyrics to his song “911.” Instead of rapping the original line, “Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon Musk,” Tyler tweaked it to: “Fuck Elon” — much to the delight of fans in attendance.
