“My parents always never wanted me to specify in a sport” – Coco Gauff’s love for multiple sports is well known to all tennis fans! With just a few weeks away from kick-starting her campaign for the 2025 season, Gauff was recently spotted indulging herself in some cross-training sessions. Cross-training has now become an important component of her workout regimen. Just a few days ago, during her intense training season, Coco Gauff was seen switching to beach volleyball to boost her agility. She even tried her luck in the sprints, but she failed miserably. Now, she was spotted in yet another “side quest!“
Just a few days ago, Coco Gauff shared a video of herself in black attire on her IG stories. She was spotted trying her luck at fencing! Gauff captioned that post with, “Another side quest 😩 #crosstraining.” Snubbing her tennis racquet for an intense fencing session? Well, she’s currently leaving no stone unturned in her preparations for the 2025 season! Later on, we saw Coco Gauff and her strength and conditioning coach, Stephane Dal Soglio, sharing a joint IG post featuring their training session.
“Pre season part 1! A little sneak peek of pre season pro athlete training. A little bit of fun, and a lot of hard work!! Let’s go get it,“ they wrote in the caption of that post. Coco Gauff even tried to explain the intensity of their training sessions by putting up a picture of a parked car close to a wall with just a few inches of gap. She wrote, “This is how close I am to quitting in the middle of every workout so far this preseason, but quitting ain’t cure so we finish,” in the captions. After all these, recently Gauff was yet again spotted at the fencing arena!
Coco Gauff shared a few glimpses of her fencing session on her IG stories. In the first story, she looked quite agile and in fact, in one instance she even managed to put her opponent on the back foot. She captioned that video clip with, “lol some more fencing.” And then, in the second one, she captioned, “lol #crosstraining.” In the third one, took a hilarious dig at the haters who have been criticizing her throughout the season for multiple reasons! It said, “I ain’t arguing with ya’ll anymore. let’s duel.” Did Gauff win that contest, though? Well, unfortunately for the American she lost the duel! Coco Gauff announced the result of the match in her fourth IG story. She wrote, “lol this is my second time fencing and it’s so fun. I lost tho.” However, fans were thrilled to see her getting hands on with a different sport!
Sport runs in the blood of her family! Her father, Corey used to be a basketball player in his college days and her mother Candi was a collegiate swimmer. Her brother, Codey chose competitive baseball, while her little brother, Cameron balanced multiple sports including football and tennis. If not tennis, which sport does Coco Gauff think that she’d have been good at?
This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Coco Gauff trying out multiple activities to keep herself fit and active throughout the off-season. Gauff once revealed that she even wanted to try out boxing, but she said that the timing with the instructor never really worked out for her. Apart from that, earlier this year, she was even spotted flaunting her soccer s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s with her teammates, but which sport according to her is a great fit for her?
Well, during a previous interview, Coco Gauff said, “When I was 13, I knew that I was going to play tennis, but they (parents) still put me in basketball and track…I did do track and basketball. I really love track. I think I would have been a good 400 runner.“ Reflecting her love for the track, Coco Gauff once also mentioned, “Track is the only sport I would say that in just because I did do well in middle school like never training, I didn’t go to one track practice, and I won all my races except two, and both were against the same girl and she was in 8th grade.“
Who are her favorite athletes in the track and field event? Well, during an interview she revealed that she grew up watching Usain Bolt doing his heroics at the Olympic Games. However, she claimed that Allyson Felix is probably the athlete that she has looked up the most while growing up. However, despite having a deep love for the tracks, Coco Gauff recently admitted that she was glad to not have chosen track and field as her sport, but why?
Well, she shared one of her recent moments from her intense training sessions and wrote, “Me finishing my last 400m😭you girl was tired. Been doubling up fitness sessions almost all week plus tennis practice every day loll. Today’s ‘I’m glad I didn’t choose track as my sport’ workout was 4 sets of 500m, 3 sets of 800M, and 5 sets of 400m to finish it off (which was my fav).” What are your thoughts on this, though? How would you rate Coco Gauff as a sprinter?
