‘I didn’t get my money back’ – Angel Reese’s first WNBA fine left Lonzo Ball even better than his word

Lonzo Ball is a man of his word

In the latest episode of Angel Reese’s podcast, Unapologetically Angel, Ball revealed whether he actually paid for the fine Reese picked up earlier in the WNBA season.

Reese was ejected on June 4 during Chicago Sky’s loss to eventual WNBA champions New York Liberty, and the rookie was fined $400.

Reese was called for her fifth personal foul but after some words to the official and a wave of her hands in dismay she was quickly given two technicals and ejected from the game.

Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball was in attendance for that game and took to X to share his frustration with the call and promised to pay the fine Reese would get for the altercation.

“Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw,” Ball wrote.

Reese went on to explain how Ball had overpaid for it.

“You gave me $2000, but do you know how much the fine actually was?” Reese said.

“It was only $200… I appreciate you.”

Ball explained he contacted former Chicago Sky coach, Teresa Weatherspoon to make sure Reese got it.

The WNBA star said: “Yeah, she gave me in cash. I appreciate that.”

Initially, Reese was meant to be fined $400, but the WNBA rescinded one of the technicals meaning the sum was just $200 so the Chicago Bulls’ point guard overpaid by $1800.

Ball and Reese couldn’t stop themselves from discussing how bad the ejection was.

“That was a terrible tech, that was my first WNBA game ever … awful tech,” Ball said.

While Reese revealed she appealed it.

“That was a crazy tech, I appealed it but I didn’t get my money back not gonna lie,” Reese said.

Moving on from the fine, Reese asked Ball whether he’d come to more WNBA games since that was his first one.

“Ain’t gonna lie that was the first and last game I’ve been to but of course, I’m trying to go more. Go Chicago Sky!,” Ball told Reese.

The WNBA star will first return to basketball in the new Unrivalled League in Miami in January before the WNBA season kicks off in May, where Reese will suit up for the Chicago Sky for her second season.
